Taking the Swedish Inlandsbanan is one of the most special experiences by train. You travel in a small railcar through the Swedish wilderness, on a railway with no other passenger trains, admiring the most beautiful nature. Stops are made for meals, small hiking excursions, and photographs.

Day 1 - to Stockholm

Arrive in Stockholm by train from the airport of your choice. Get settled in Sweden in the historic capital, with a beautifully preserved historic center full of canals and waterfronts. You stay in a modern hotel close to the main train station.

Day 2 - Inlandsbanan to Östersund

Depart by express train to Mora, where you board the Inlandsbanen train. The 1300-kilometer-long railway runs through the heart of the country. The train stops for photographs and small hiking excursions. You leave the train in Östersund, accommodation in a modern hotel in the city center.

Day 3 - Östersund

Day off in Östersund, a small Swedish city built inbetween lakes. Explore the city, go on a Moose safari or enjoy a hike in the rough Swedish wilderness around lake Storsjön.

Day 4 - Inlandsbanen to Gällivare

Board the Inlandsbanan train again to continue your journey North. The railway takes you through endless forests and over countless bridges. During the journey the train makes several stops hikes and meals. In the evening you pass the Arctic circle, and a few hours later you arrive in Gällivare. You stay in the Grand Hotel Lapland.

Day 5 - Abisko

By local train you continue your journey north, from Gällivare to the village of Abisko. This is one of the best places to experience Lapland’s beautiful Arctic landscape in peace and quiet. From Abisko it is possible to book guided excursions or take the cable car up the Noulja mountain. 

Day 6 - Oferfjord & Narvik

Board the train from Abisko along the Ofoten railway to Narvik, Norway. The train passes the majestic Oforfjord, one of Norway’s biggest fjords. Accommodation in the Breidablikk Guesthouse in Narvik.

Day 7 - sleeper train to Stockholm

Towards the end of the afternoon, you leave Narvik in the Arctic Circle sleeper train back to Stockholm. You stay in a private sleeping cabin, with bedding and breakfast included.

Day 8 - return trip

Arrival by sleeper train in Stockholm in the morning. Transfer back to the airport by direct train or to Oslo or Copenhagen by express train.
